There are some basic expectations that one should have of any IPod software they purchase. First and foremost, the software should make life easier where owning an IPod is concerned. Good software never complicates a process but, instead, makes that process easier and more intuitive for the user. Some of the processes related to owning an IPod are rather standard but the software on the market that promises to be able to perform these processes efficiently and reliably is not all created equal by any means. Good software has some universal traits.
Good software helps users to perform tasks related to preserving the integrity of their data. This means that backing up the data should be easy and convenient and shouldn’t involve confusing steps. Software that is intelligently designed encourages users to perform such complex tasks by making what was once confusing enormously easy and, thus, enables those users to have the full benefits associated with digital storage. Where music collections are concerned, there is more than data that needs to be backed up. One also needs to back up those elements of their data that make owning a device such as an IPod convenient!
IPods allow users to create very customized organizational schemes for their music with a few clicks of a button. There’s no point in offering this feature if that feature is not portable between various machines, another advantage of owning an IPod. Good software will allow users to seamlessly transfer their data from one machine to another, including playlists and rankings, so that one machine exactly mimics another. The synching features on these devices make little sense if this is not the case. Software makes it very convenient to perform these tasks and, thus, allows a user to easily keep their preferences between machines.
